Akira Update - 2 am and Akira is coming down from another withdrawal

Akira Update: 2 a.m. and Akira is coming down from another withdrawal cycle which started an hour ago.

At the peak she is pacing panting and severely shaking. Best we can do is to take her outside for a walk and then wait the tremors out in the house after.

There's no magic bullet to help her through it and each time is different. This time we were fortunate that laying in my lap with lavender essential oils on my hands eased the tremors.

Today we again reduce the drugs all the way through the weekend and until off entirely and withdrawals cease. It's so very hard to watch her go through this and she's dealing with phantom limb at the same time (severed nerve that thinks the leg is still there).

Having to go deep into my greatest fear of watching my beloved suffer and feel somewhat powerless to help her stop. Compassion, faith, and a lot of breathing. 'Til we meet again...
