Akira Update - This weekend is a BIG weekend

Akira Update: This weekend is a BIG weekend (and Monday). Akira has been on a Lidocaine patch since her surgery. She's had 10 Lidocaine and bandage changes at the vets since her surgery on September 6th (remember, she is a HSP - Highly Sensitive PET so much more sensitive towards pain and resistant to some drugs). The original "plan" was for her to have 2 patch changes the first week.

We thought about removing the patch this Monday and she heard us talking about it the day before and began yelping when we would go to touch her.

When we went in for a visit with her wonderful vet, Dr. Feinberg, and told him of her yelping he laughed (he "gets" Akira now) and proceeded to have a direct conversation with her after I asked him, "what's your intuition as we are a bit torn on whether to remove the patch today?"

His compassionate and intuitive response to Akira...

"Honey, honey we will leave the patch on this week and I want you to know that come next Monday you will not need it anymore."

The patches typically last for 2 days before wearing off. Last patch was given Thursday, 2 days ago. So this weekend is a big moment and Monday morning 8 am we plan to remove the bandages and patches for good. Would love for you all to send loving positive vibes for a comfortable and peaceful weekend as her patch wears off.

Thought you might enjoy a picture of Dr. Feinberg post surgery when he was sitting with her, giving her Healing Touch, and reassuring her that she was doing well and that the surgery was necessary for her to be free from the pain and be a happy pup again. I love this man!
