Akira Update - we are focused on helping to reduce her anxiety caused by drugs

Akira Update: We are focused on helping to reduce her anxiety caused by drugs, chronic stress, and primarily the fear and lack of confidence in moving around in her new tripawd body.

We have some very hopeful things happening to support her. She's been in "doggie daycare" - fancy way of saying staying at our vets office 2 days a week to help break the anxiety patterns in our own home.

She had a very good day there today! And they are taking such amazing care of her even getting her to eat way more than we can. Before her surgery she weighed 21 pounds and this Monday weighed in at 15 pounds. You can imagine my worry. Katherine, our primary vet tech at Governor's Animal Clinic has stunned us with how much she's gotten Akira to eat in the last two visits! Time to get some weight back on her.

She even got to spend some time with one of their staff member's (Michelle) tripawd. Dr. Feinberg intuitively suggested on Monday that perhaps it would help Akira to be around another tripawd. Lo and behold 2 days later she meets up with Zeppelin, Michelle's dog. (some pics below) - video to come of the two of them soon!

Secondly, I've been researching and interviewing potential rehab specialists and pet sitters/walkers/trainers. AND.....I think I've found a pet sitter/dog walker, too! We are meeting with Meg owner of Peace Love & Walks tomorrow. And the great thing is that she is also a registered vet tech!!

And drum roll please ~ I just got off the phone with a vet & certified rehab specialist Maja owner at Tsavo's Canine Rehabilitation Center and we are set for our initial consult on Friday!! Dr. Feinberg (our primary vet) knows us well and particularly Akira's personality and felt intuitively that Maja could be a great fit for her.

I am pretty particular on whom I work with and bring into Akira's care team. For it to work for everyone we need to be on the same wavelength and collaborate with others on the team. I am quite open about my holistic approach and speak freely about working with a pet intuitive, alternative modes of healing, and integrative approach.

As Akira is a highly sensitive being (no surprise a lot like her mom) she has to feel safe with her caretakers and it is my responsibility to pick them wisely. I take that responsibility seriously. It's just like when looking for the right doctor for a human family member except they often can express what they want, Akira relies on me as the communicator and coordinator.

I tend to test the waters right out the gate with anyone I am considering as a part of the team by speaking of the intuitive to see how they respond. Given the integrative approach it just wouldn't work to have someone who would not take the information we glean directly from Akira via the intuitive communications.

After thorough discussions with both Meg and Maja (pictures below) I am comfortable that we'd align well and Akira would feel safe with them. Looking forward to this next phase of Akira's healing and empowerment!!
