Akira has been bitten by a brown recluse spider

akira and me

Akira has been bitten by a brown recluse spider and there is a nasty bite and her paw continues to swell up.

It's heart-wrenching to watch her limp and not be able to help her. She's the absolute love of my life.  I've had her since she was 8 weeks old and she is now over 12 years. I love her more than anyone and we are clearly soulmates.

I am trying everything I can to help her heal. Consulting with her traditional vet as well as a new holistic vet who specializes in acupuncture and chinese herbs.

We worked with a holistic vet who specialized in homeopathy when she was a puppy who has since moved away. We know the power of homeopathy from that experience as she saved her life after ingesting pesticide on the grass. So I am trying a new holistic vet that has been successful with very ill animals.

We've worked with animal communicators her entire lifetime, too, and learned the power of doing so from the pesticide experience. When the animal hospital was holding Akira and told me she might not make it, the intuitive animal communicator said, "Get her out of there now. Take her home." And sent me to the homeopathic vet. And she truly saved her life.

Akira had been throwing up non-stop and after being hospitalized and staying overnight, they told me her liver could fail. The homeopathic vet was exceptionally masterful in dosing the exact right remedies and over the next 6 months treated her with precision combined with weekly healing energy work. It wasn't an easy process, weekly visits to the vet and dosing her with numerous remedies through out the day, weeks, and months, but she slowly regained her health and vitality.

To this day I am a strong believer in the power of homeopathy and healing energy work.

This experience opened my eyes and started me on a whole new journey of holistic healing for both my pets and myself. Removing all the toxic chemicals from our house, eating organically, and diving into homeopathy, holistic healing, energy work, and animal communication.  Even getting trained in Healing Touch, which is akin to Reiki, but better recognized and used in more progressive yet traditional hospital settings.

So here we are.

For over a decade she has been healthy and now this. And I am scared. I don't have a great feeling about this time though. On her first visit to Akira this new homeopathic vet (with not a great bedside manner) states, "I might need to get used to the idea she may never walk on all 4 legs again." This rocked my world.

I'm determined to get her walking on all 4s again. And listening to her traditional vet as we try different medications to treat her paw.

Oh my love, I will do everything in my power to help you heal.

In this picture Akira is wearing a cone to try and keep her from licking off the medicine. I can only imagine how painful and hard this is for her.

At this point though, I don't know yet that the poison from the spider bite has begun to eat away at her bone and that it would turn into bone cancer.
