YES!!! Akira has had such a difficult time getting comfortable day and night and we have many a sleepless night. Just figured out how to help her. She kept trying to curl up next to me and finally i get it, part of that was to be propped up so she was more comfortable....

Akira Update: she's a bit weak today in large part to the toxicity from sedation and anesthesia and drugs.
She's also quite tired (me too - mom had to stay up with her) from most of the night trying to get comfortable laying down and adjusting herself.
She's lost weight (of course) and not all that...
Akira Update: Akira has been taken off 2 of her pain drugs, Metacam and Amantadine, and they have been replaced with a chinese medicine she had taken before the surgery that helped with the spider bite and cancer pain.

Akira Milestone: Happiness is seeing Akira be able to prop herself up on her own and find a comfortable position where she can sleep and get up without struggling. This is BIG!

BEFORE: Just yesterday this was the best position Akira could get herself in on her own. A big adjustment maneuvering with 1 front leg and having an incision to be careful of not hurting. See my previous post for the AFTER!

Akira update: she has full body shaking episodes at times and wasn't sure if it was due to pain or anxiety. Juls, checked in intuitively with Akira and it is primarily her grieving the loss of her leg and being worried that I would think she was less now that she has only 3 legs.
Heart breaking....
This right here is priceless to me and makes everything we are going through a thousand times worth it!!

Akira update ~ I believe we have turned a corner!
After an extremely challenging weekend and Monday morning where her pain patch expired watching her shake in pain for days increasing as the weekend progressed, we have found a balance between pain meds and healing.
Dr. Feinberg told me this morning...
Resting peacefully.....need to get some sleep before night comes. Why is pain greatest at night??
